Red Wings 4-2 Canadians
The Montreal Canadians' top penalty kill was no match for the powerful Detroit offense, which capitalized on 1 of 6 powerplays and dominated most of the game because of them. One can't help but want more match ups between these 2 legendary teams.
Senators 3-2 Devils
The return of Martin Brodeur from injury was not enough to help the Devils win, a task that has been very difficult this season for this team. Both coaches in this game were in the hot seat already and that remains the case for going into today's games.
Avalanche 4-2 Thrashers
The Avalanche made a rare appearance in Georgia and left with the sweet taste of victory in a close battle with Atlanta. Colorado was led by Matt Duchene's 2 assists and new comer Tomas Fleishmann's goal and assist.
Stars 2-1 SO Hurricanes
Brad Richards scored the only goal in the shootout to lead the Dallas Stars to a home victory over the Carolina Hurricanes.
Oilers 4-3 SO Lightning
The young Oilers forwards out dueled the speedy Lighning with a shootout victory. Magnus Paajarvi and Taylor Hall scored in regulation before Jordan Eberle and Linus Omark scored highlight reel goals in the shootout.
Ducks 3-2 SO Flames
Jonas Hiller out lasted the Calgary Flames even though his Ducks were out shot every period and it helped them win in a shootout.
